Lecture description: Protected areas, such as national parks and nature reserves, are the gold standard for environmental policy and represent a variety of theoretical and practical debates on conservation. This lecture will introduce the management, planning and zoning of parks/protected areas, and management tools for monitoring and mitigating environmental and socio-economic impacts. We will consider practical questions such as:- • What is “Sustainable Tourism”? • 2 case study examples (from Britain & Japan) • Career paths in conservation etc.
